finally in USA

Well well it has begun. my work and travel program to Moreys Piers New Jersey. Thoughts are flashing ard my mind now..continuous train of queries, memories and anticpation are twirling ard..i'm jet lagged and sleepy...full though.it's now 2.31am new jersy timing, but 'm feeling more of the 2.31pm s''pore time..cos i slpt the afternoon away.anyway, here's the chain of events over the past few days.

Sunday 6am...talk about parents' love. they woke up early just to drive me down to the airport. Words of encouragement and care, hugs, a handshake. I'm going to miss them quite abit. Miss them already now..










My first aeroplane mail. Didn't really eat much of it..mainly had the juice. Timing was all weird i guess..and my stomach just wan't used to eating 2 dinners in a matter of 3 hrs.

We hit JFK airport at about 12mindnight. nearly got bought over by some shady looking men who were trying to offer us their service rides at ridiculous rates. Ignorant we may be to USA, but we're not stupied. anyway, we ended up with another guy..a nice chap called john who drove us to wildwood at a decent rate. along the way we managed to catch some shut-eye as well. The tough part was when we reached wildwood. We were contemplating on whether to stay in a motel and rest b4 reporting to Moreys Piers in the late morning, but in the end we decided to brave the cold winds and hang ard longer till dawn sets in, n then we would head to moreys first thing in the morning. The wind was REALLY cold i'm telling u.i was wearing my army jacket..which served me very well in brunei, but i was still shiverng like a clown. to make it worse, it was drizzling. Drizzle + cold winds + fatigue + hunger and thirst + homesick = 1 lonely guy. was a pretty rough morning i guess,but the company of the travel grp was fantastic. cracking jokes and simply laughing it off made things better n made the cold somewhat go away.
Ahh yes..my first ever mail in USA. A turkey sandwichh wif extra cheese. yummy stuff i'm telling u,esp when u're cold,hungry and disoriented.










Well,thats me now..in my little room...blogging away. this pic was taken like 30min ago..so as u can see..i'm still in 1 piece. Oh..we just went to the convenience store wif joy and mel..it was kinda late..but it was a nice cooling walk i guess. saw some local punks there n they kinda disturbed us..haha talking abt minorities picking on the minorities. Well...after a while i guess u just learn to ignore them.





The streets of Jersey speak of their own language..soft-spoken & meek. As you stand by the window,close your eyes and inhale, u'll be amazed at how refreshing the air is. A far cry from s'pore def, even though i've only be here for a day, i sense immediately the slower pace of life, the more laid back attitude these pple have. Of cos it could be becoz summer has not yet begun..i'm really looking 4ward to experiencing more of this culture.

sleepy..going to turn in now. *whiffs the air* ahh
