a thought. early in the morning
it was one of the hardest night i had since i came here. was coughing the whole night..silly cough still won't go away, even after a few days of medicine. woke up this morning, and in my half groggy state, i could taste abit of blood. to make it worse, it was the hottest night ever..yup, which could be a gd indicator that summer is really kicking in. i woke up really early this morning coughing like mad and sweating. gross combi.even though i switched on the fan to the max, i still couldn't go back to sleep. slept for like 5 hrs only last night..and the night b4 i slept abt 4 (cos i was watching 50 first dates dvd, lol). as i'm typing this now, it's 7.25am in the morning..gotta leave for work in about an hr. yawns..*lazy stretch* don't feel like going le.hahah..feel so stone right now.

it was interesting when i packed my cupboard last night and realised i ate less than 5 packs of instant mee in total since i came here. i was thinking back home in sg i would probabbly live off instant food when i got here, but somehow it's otherwise. i never feel contended when i get my meal in mere minutes. it has to be something new everyday, for me to really enjoy it. of cos there r days when i have to rush ard and thats when i eat the instant mee or quick snacks. other than that, i would prefer to cook up something with rice.lol..spoken like a true asian eh. i guess one of the reasons is cos there's a china guy in my apartment who doesn't really behave like a typical prc student.haha..he is so funky and crazy and he is nicknamed masterchef. learning so much from him..he has done dishes like pig trotters, beef stew, sze chuan chicken soup <- this is wow, etc etc.
taking a moment to remember my gd buddy yujun who left for sweden yesterday for his student exchange program. suddenly realised things will not be the same anymore in school when km and i get back without him ard. we used to call ourselves bhb-ly the fab4.haha..that'll be yujun, eugene,km and myself. had all the fun we could ever get. my year2 was so much fun cos of them probably. we clowned ard, ate together, sat thru lectures, went thru labs, had our share of squabbles and laughter, sat in eugene's xiaohong together, had tang yuan tog, enjoyed our badminton, tennis and soccer championships, checked out the cuter gals in sch, bought textbks tog..just so many things. but somehow i guess things will never be the same again..cos when yujun comes back from sweden, km will be gone to canada for his. i'll prob be applying for sep next sem too, so i guess yr2 left behind the fondest of memories for me. well as quoted from a show, it doesn't matter how long a gd time last sometimes, all that matters is that it once existed. haha i sound friggin brokeback..we're straight guys btw.
woke up at 5 plus this morning, and switched on to the christian channel. benny hinn's crusade in sydney. it was especially inspiring for me this past 2 days. i really felt God was speaking to me in some way. Over the past few months, i've always pondered over a thought. how can man be truly satisfied in this world? when we r filled with so many imperfections-be it physical, emotional or pyschological. even if we do manage to overcome some of them, it's all but a matter of time before more pops up in the course of time. how can one define happiness? who calls for it, and does true happiness equate having a stress-free life? over these period of time, i suddenly hit upon a small personal realisation. our human brain is so absorbed into the mechanism of focusing on the things we don't have, rather than on the positive things we already possess. for eg, why can't we wake up every morning being thankful that we have 2 legs that help us walk thru the day? that we can actually get out of bed unassisted? these matters appear trival, but hey, the program i was watching spoke of the testimony of a young pro footballer who was diagnosed wrongly once with some bone condition that rrequired amputation, he went through the darkest days of his life, hitting hard upon the realisation that he was never ever going to walk again, something he took for granted over the years. on the day of the op, he cried as he was prepared for the op. upon cutting up his leg, the surgeon realised it was a wrong diagnosis earlier and in fact, the footballer just needed a minor surgery to correct the problem. when the player awoke and felt his leg there and heard the gd news, he cried out and just simply gave thanks everyday to God for his leg. every morning b4 he gets out of bed he just thanks God sincerely for his leg.
Why do we have to wait for a time when we are on the verge of losing something before we actually start to pine over its loss? i guess there are so many things we could be thankful for tdy. a gd family, health, a chance to know god, a chance to study, gd frenz. be thankful for everyday because a thankful spirit dominates a discouraging soul. remember!
so nice to blog in the balcony. nice music playing on my lappie, everyhting is just so serene and tranquil.i look up and see nice summer houses, the boardwalk, a churchy looking church, americans strolling up and down the street. i need to go back in to prepare for work soon. listening to colin raye's 'open arms' now and whiffing in the morning air. *whiff* ahh
