3.5 yrs lag in blog post

just finished cfa couple of weeks back, now bia-ing for my cmfas module 6. shit, i under-estimated it. thought i could just give myself a week to download everything in, but it seems to be taking longer than expected. think i better eat more gingko nuts and discipline myself.
will be chiong-ing cmt too, prob end of the year.

arm is aching like crazy after badminton with the monks. in fact, not only arms, all my leg muscles r in pain too. good exercise though, perhaps we should do this on a regular basis.

just earned another 400 from saf last week. for those who r concerned about 2.4km run, i will suggest Maju camp. their new 2.4 track route (in the carpark) is probably designed by a very kind-hearted men who understands the pains of NSmen not being able to train for their run. I literally shaved off close to a min running on that track.

Supposed to water park with cheryl, germaine and huimei yesterday. Last min sick, damn kok. end up blowing my nose the whole day at home. now still struggling to stop the stupid leak while cramming in readings now.

my christmas wish this yr

my christmas wish this year is really simple. i wanna draw back to God..i wanna dwell in his love again..i don't wanna rely on my own strength anymore. i wanna go carolling..i wanna sing christmas carols..be happy amongst God's pple. i am in the seas right now..i wanna be pulled back onto the ship. though there are helpers who r willing to pull me back up the ship, i'm afraid to do so for the fear of losing those back in the sea. i try to help these pple up onto the ship with my own strength, but i am unable to. i am too weak for that. i can only pray and wait for things to happen.
this year i am not going to be able to do the things i want for christmas. i wanna carol..i really wanna spend the night remembering the true meaning of christmas...& not exaggerated concepts about it just being the season to be jolly.
really hope my night with my gal and her friends can be a fruitful one. really hope so..
if anyone is reading this, i think i need help.

body needs to catch up on some sleep

finally settled my ippt.....twice and for all. first time was a bummer...glad i got it the second time round. yay..400 b ucks richer in an hour. was surprised to see my elder bro there...reached there with leon and just when we were putting our stuff into the locker, my bro showed up suddenly. ends up he was in the detail just before us. and we got a free ride home in the process =)
nearly couldn't make it for 2.4km..cos i got abit over complacent after the first round...so 2nd round slacked abit. when i started on my 3rd and final round, i was quite shocked to see the timing of 6:36...knew i had to die die rocket off my last round or come back again next week for another round of ippt..haha..so i finished my last in 3.04..which was more or less a 800m sprint.lol~ tired.
caught up with cheryl at night...we went breeks at taka for dinner. was as hungry as a horse..and feeling quite drained in fact, especially the legs. we ate and laughed and joked..nice being with her..we can just talk about practically almost anything. then we went starbucks for some coffee talk b4 heading home.

today she left for kl...3 day trip. i woke up earlier 5.45an just to prepare breakfast for her and bring it to golden mile. was a really nice feeling when she msged and said the sandwiches were delicious. final hug and kiss b4 she left in the bus, and i was on my way for my 9am lesson =(. today got a lift from genie at clementi mrt..and reached sch just in time at 9am. lessons were tiring man..lol. feel sleepy tdy..it's gonna be a long long day...still got 2 hr lect at sci followed by a lab..bleahz. think i'm gonna concuss when i reach home later. still don't feel properly rested after my ippt.

going to make use of this weekend to do some solid work. key thing to keep in mind is good planning and discipline. focus kenneth...do whats best...and do it good.

cheers

waiting for transport lecture in the comp lab

it's been a long time since i started blogging in public again..haha been doing some personal blog entries recently. i think my last entry was probably a month ago.haha~..so many things have happened in my life...it's gd to be back home in singapore..after being in the states for so long. somehow nothing beats the feeling of homeliness. true it's exciting to be away in a foreign land for so long, learning new stuff, widening your perception of life...but ultimately, home is where you get the most love, the most support from. and all these are invaluable, because they come so unconditionally. i love my family and friends back here!
to my friends who are overseas working/studying, enjoy urselves to the max. it's a once in a lifetime experience, so you must really live like never b4..but of cos not on the wrong side of life of cos ;) play hard...and work hard...and cherish your times there.catch up when u all come back.

2 more days to the end of my tuition kid's exams! it's been a weary 3 week period for me...been going down to his place at hougang almost everyday for 2 hrs...transport is a headache...can take about 2.5 hrs just to travel to and fro. but i'm so glad it's ending..i'm so glad at least he looks like he's in some shape for his exams. when i took over this guy 4 weeks back, it was in pretty bad shape...but now at least i can see some confidence in his eyes...some drive in him..haha.hope he fares well for this coming exam.

caught up with the boys for some sports last weekend..it's been ages since we played sports together. enjoyed a game of badminton and soccer with leon, genie and alwyn. feels gd to sweat it out and spend some time with them. feels gd to catch up wif ur brothers. still got one more sports brother missing in action..cos he's in sweden..yujun. waiting for him to come back then we'll be back to the sports addicts again. whole day see his blog like evry happening..do drop him a visit if you're free to catch up on life in sweden. http://tanyujun.blogspot.com

am with leon and genie at comp lab now..tdy just did transport lab. sian~ wear the cwo vest and stand at the kent ridge crescent to time the length of traffic light. haha..serious~ the only thing lacking for us to pass off as construction workers were just helmets. thank god we didn't have to wear them! spent 30min standing out just clicking a stopwatch..haha..tdy is a slack day. geotech lect got cancelled as well.so now we're just waiting for a 1 hr lecture at 2pm.

took my ippt last thur. 1 sec to gold..haha..super wasted. never pace myself properly + haze + never train properly = 9min45sec for 2.4km. other stations were ok..basically i got all 5 points, but just that 2.4 missed the 9min44sec mark! the PTIs were laughing when they saw my results..and they say it's super sway. i also feel it's really unlucky..lol...anyway i told them i'll be back next week with a vengeance. gonna thrash my old timing upside down..taking wif my bro leon this thur..but haven't trained since last thur..so abit panicky.haha..anyway later will prob go for a gd run in prep for this thur. cannot afford to mess up again this time.

abt to prepare for lect now.trying to read thru bio notes..eyes closing. it's no doubt a slack day for me at sch tdy, but it's gonna be a long day today. still wanna go home after lecture to practise my running, then go for tuition, and so some work when i get back.

haven't been practising my drums faithfully for the past few weeks. so many things on my mind..but the last month has been the happiest i have ever gone through.

free cpr course

when u approach a victim that is lying seemingly unconscious,

1. approach him and check for response
2. if there's no response get someone to call for an ambulance asap
3. open the airway and check for breathing
4. if there's no breathing, give 2 initial breaths
5. observe the chest,
if the chest doesn't move up, it indicates that something may be stuck in the airway of the victim. Commence 30 chest compressions. Then do a visual check into the victim's mouth and if something is seen, finger sweep it out. then do 2 more initial breaths. the victims chest should heave now. if not, commence with chest compressions again.

the victim's chest moves up, this indicates that air is able to go through. Open the airway and check for breathing. Do this for 10 seconds. Main objective is to checkput ear above victims mouth, feeling and listening out for any breathing as well as watching the victim's chest. Take a pulse as well.

6. There can be 2 main scenarios
The victim has a pulse but is not breathing
Begin AR.
Do this for 1 minute..in this manner."Breathe, 1-1000,2-1000-,3-1000,4-1000 breathe."
After that, reaccess and check for pulse and breathing.

The victim as no pulse and is not breathing
Begin CPR.
Do this for 1 minute. Start with 30 chest compressions, followed by 2 breaths, followed by 30 chest compressions...in that cycle.
After that, reaccess and check for pulse and breathing.

In the event of performance of AR and CPR and the victim's chest is not moving up during the breathing in of air, re-tilt the head and carry on.

Tips for emergency situations : never compromise, never be lazy, take extra care of kids, life over limb.

Cheers

las vegas trip

Sin City..the city that never sleeps. 24 hrs running..filled with sinful activities..filled with an aura of heat and uneasiness. yes..uneasiness. 1 startling observation is the people in Las Vegas look more weary..and more zapped up. the place is mainly made up of concrete. casinos, hotels, motels, more casinos, bars, clubs line up the area. With a desert atmosphere, i wouldn't say Las Vegas is one of the freshest place i've been to.
We spent 6 days there..i really don't know how we did it.lol
I recollect gambling at circus circus casino. being the samll time amatueurs that we are, we headed for the $1 black jack table after losing at the $3 table. Oldie kenneth, do u remember the friggin banker who got 5 21s in a row??yeah that one..that one with the smug look after he flipped his cards over for the 5th time and proudly announced with a smug look on his face (with a condescending tone) "21 AGAIN......*yawn*" yes thats the bugger u wanted to smartly tap on the head with ur fist. corrupt la..that one. haha. but there was a nice blur lady (first timer) who came and helped us earn back some $$ cos she kept bursting. love you lady *muah*. hahahaha..

the hostel was probably one of the best i ever lived in during my travel phase. the room was sufficiently spacious, with really gd internet, and most imptly AIR CONDITIONED! with a pool, a bar, scantily clad foreign gals walking around, pancake breakfast, a 24hr convenience store just outside, life was gd. meals-wise, we subwayed again. haha. relentlessly, i have to admit. still refusing to budge from our scheming $$ saving tactics..we subwayed and wolfed our way through. old ken..other things u did were shopping..(remember the victoria secret embarrassment??), lurking around aimlessly, take long walks which u regretted halfway cos of the scorching temperatures, bars, chilling out, taking skinny dips with the hot irish babe etc etc. hahahaha..okie dun steam la u oldie..that didn't happen.gotcha..haha

1 thing remarkable about the las vegas leg would have to be the trip to hoover dam and grand canyon. yep.we got a car..got a gps..and set out. u may have wondered why on earth we did that right after our car accident in DC rite? fools..clowns...but yes..i was a fool and i was a clown. haha. we still went ahead. hahaha..okie enuff said. the trip was gorgeous nevertheless. we reached hoover damn in the early afternoon. it was about a 2hr drive from our hostel (fremont street), and we lingered ard. the weather was so hot that some of us even took of our tops. took photos, walked ard, laughed, attempted to scale some mini fake mountains, dranks lots of water. after that we went back to check up on tommy, and headed for grand canyon.

grand canyon. grand is an understatement. when we first arrived, i glanced casually to check out the canyons, and i was momentarily paralysed. yes..cos it was something i could never quite put together. the natural architecture, the array of colours that lay out b4 the horizon, the fresh air, the brown long ranges of mountaineous geography, the valleys and the ridges..the animal life in the sky. everything worked together for a bigger picture..a picture that is painted with just pure beauty. we were all just sitting along the edge gasping for breaths..taking short hard breaths trying to soak in the sights. haha..okie that was just a comical vision i had. no we weren't doing that. what did we do? grabbed the 8 cheeseburgers and 4 mcchicken burgers we had and the drinks and started our picnic. the serene atmosphere got a little overwhelming..i distinctly recall thinking "if only the gal of my dreams was here with me now..we could just hug and enjoy all this together" it was somewhat touching..the view of it all. God made this geography for a reason..it's too beautiful to be something thats created simply out of the coincidence of nature. in my opinion, Grand canyon has definitely earned its reputation as being 1 of the 7 wonders of the world. i also recall when we admiring the view in silent awe, a line from a hillsong somewhat came into my head. "From the mountains, to the valleys, hear our praises, rise to you..." i thanked God at that moment for giving me that chance to be up on the mountains looking down at what i was seeing..giving praise to Him.

Las Vegas..a blurred rojak of emotions. it's a hot place...too hot for me. need to go off to LA..Taipei..if i were to sum up my experiences in Las Vegas in something short and sweet, it would be " play and siam..don't stay too long there"

Cheers
Ken

so many things..but my life is not in order yet

ever had the feeling like you're having trouble setting everything into the cycle u want it to be?
yup..thats me.

so many things zapping thru my mind these few days. above all, i know my aim for the sem is to really achieve academic success. but there's just so many things floating ard in my mind everyday...god,family,drums,$$$,golf,salsa,friends,sleep,study,training,hanging_out, attachments,loans...etc r jus some of the things going ard in me. each of these components branch out into further series of thoughts. yes old kenneth (prob u'll see this in 2046), u will probably be laughing as u drink ur kopi-o..what has this young punk got that makes him so troubled??tsk tsk..
well..oldie, laugh ur head la. u probably forgot abt it after so many years..so dun anyhow laff. go lim ur kopi la. and talk to andrew(that's my future son's name btw). he should be in p4 now u oldie.

been catching up wif quite a few friends since i got back..haven't got a chance to catch up wif my dear buddy, eejun properly. we need to find a time to really sit down and chat and catch up wif our lives. he's graduating in 2 more sems...dats amazingly fast. soon he'll be in the workforce..and i'll be joining him too. coincidentally, his brother(eeting) is my bro's gf's colleague. it's a small world...after all..it's a small small world...after all..*i'm crazy liao dun mind me*

yesterday i went to the velvet anniversary..free flow of drinks = alcohol parade. met up wif alvin's colleagues and friends..fun loving pple..from the fashion industry.very nice to hang out wif. and got 1 guy who truly depicts the pure singaporean spirit.
"wahhh!free flow of drinks ah!drink more le! drink up drink up..then we can go take more!quick!"
haha..in the end we were all damn high..staggering ard like clowns..but managed to get some r&b in phuture and some gd retro in zouk. i realised i'm still into retro..haha.taste never change. and it'smore fun when u club wif a wilder crowd.his friends r very fun..very liberal, and veryyy high.haha....but salsa is more fun.lol. anyway my salsa is pathetic. i wish i had practised more in usa with the coloumbians..i kinda threw everything back liao. was seriously contemplating joining J&J with peipei...somemore got my bro's guidance..but cannot le.spent a few gd hours charting out the new directions of my life this sem, and there's just these few things i can have time for. so i really have to put salsa on hold again for this sem.

caught lovewrecked wif pam tdy..it's a 'make u have goosebumps cos it's sweet' show..i've been watching alot of sweet shows nowadays. haha..i caught my super ex gf wif her last week too, caught lakehouse some time b4, caught the click in usa..all the shows wif sweet themes. wanna watch snakes in the plane soon. oh another show that got me too was tokyo drift. caught it wif gd old henry.the drifting part..was really gd..tho i won't recommend it to someone who's not comfortable wif car accidents...cos they really showed some horrific crashes.(and yes, engrams were brought back occassionally =P)

met up wif hanley for dinner the other day. my former dragonboat teammate who just sat behind me, my partner for some 16km canoeing marathon thingy(i forgot the name liao), and my study buddy in j2.haha. it's so nice to catch up wif him..tok about how we've moved on..tok abt other classmates. sometimes it really amazes me how fast things r moving..when we try to stop it, it slips out of our reach and lo and behold, u realise u've lost even more time cos of that extra effort u made. essentially, life goes by, so treasure what u have.

tmr's fri. something tells me this sem is gonna zoom by. the fact that i have monday off doesn't help much. started off the sem in gear 1, now i feel it's in gear 3 liao. gear 4 will start in a couple of weeks.

i'm feeling the hangover combined with the lack of sleep from last night. feeling groggy..think i'll just end the night wif a nice show and a glass of wine. no mood to study tonight..haha.meeting qing tmr...been trying to catch up wif her for like ages..but always something had to crop up. haha..so i'm really looking 4ward to it.

i just realised i havent realy blogged abt my travel experience. and my cpr course. too lazy to type it out now.lol. next time ba
